Some tourists tend to not care about their actions when they are visiting other countries, but a park in Thailand is sick of it.
The authorities in Khao Yai National Park near Bangkok, Thailand recently announced that they will be sending garbage left by tourists back to their homes if they litter in the park!
Visitors that are visiting the park are required to register their personal details including their names and addresses to make it easy for the rangers to track them down if they leave their trash behind.
"Your trash - we'll send it back to you," Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa wrote on a Facebook post along with pictures of litter-filled parcels ready to be shipped back to the litterers.
“I can’t tolerate this action,” the Environment Minister said in a interview. “I was furious and my first reaction was to send it back to whoever was dumping it.”
“I instructed the park rangers to collect the garbage and ship it back to the person, with the message saying, ‘You have forgotten some items at the camping ground so we kindly return it to you so you can deal with it.”
The offenders will also be registered with the police and receive an undisclosed fine!
Khao Yai National Park is the oldest national park in Thailand that’s known for its waterfalls, animals and beautiful scenery. The rubbish left behind by irresponsible tourists is dangerous for the animals who may try to eat it.
The action from the authorities has earned praise locals and netizens worldwide who thinks it’s only right that the tourists receive the garbage they left behind!
Do you know someone that litters all the time? Share this with them for awareness!
