More and more countries are starting to ban single-use plastics and with Thailand starting their plastic ban in the new year, shoppers are improvising in the most hilarious way possible!
Photos went viral on Facebook showing how Thai shoppers got creative with their ways to substitute plastic bags!
People were photographed with their groceries and other items in wheelbarrows, vases, traffic cones, and even hangers to comply with the plastic bag initiative and netizens are amused.
But this lady with her luggage bags is probably the best way to go about it - ample space, with wheels, able to withstand the weight of the groceries, it’s just perfect!
Some of the other were seen with storage nettings and even fishing nets or just their own shirts… classic.
While the plastic ban is only implemented for malls and major retailers for now, a country-wide ban is anticipated in 2021.
Thailand ends up with about 75 billion pieces of plastic bags, approximately 2 million tons of plastic waste each year and some are saying that the plastic ban is not enough, and government should address climate change too.
It’s certainly nice to see how people are embracing these environmental changes in a fun way, and we wish that the world would embrace the change too… before it’s too late to save our planet.
Which of these Thai shoppers’ quirky methods is your favourite? Let us know!
