Winter has finally arrived in the Seven Kingdoms and we don’t think we’ll ever be prepared for what’s to come.
With two episodes already unleashed to the world, fans wait eagerly as each week passes by slowly, and some might say agonizingly, for a new episode. Only four episodes stand in the way of the end, and tension is running high.

After all the heartwarming events that took place in the second episode, it seems like the showrunners are prepping us for some major heartbreak, Game of Thrones style of course.
For those of you who have seen the preview for next week’s episode, you’ll know that the long-awaited battle with the Night King and the White Walkers is set to begin.

Third episode in the final season is set to create history by becoming the series’ longest single episode, ever. It will also feature the longest continuous battle sequence in cinematic history, even longer than Lord of the Rings’ 40-minute Battle of Helm’s Deep! That makes us even more nervous.
Previously, the record was held by season seven’s final episode, “The Dragon and the Wolf,” which clocked in at 80 minutes. Episode three will take over that record by a whole two minutes! And knowing GoT, a lot can happen in two minutes.

Episodes four, five and six will also be longer than the usual runtime of the series. Episode four will come in at 78 minutes while episode five and six will clock in at 80 minutes each.
Production on what could be titled “The Battle of Winterfell” took 11 long weeks of grueling night shoots. 750 people were estimated to be involved both in front of and behind the camera.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, co-excutive producer Bryan Cogman said, “This is the final face-off between the Army of the Dead and the army of the living, it’s completely unprecedented and relentless and a mixture of genres even within the battle.”
