Wearing a mask has been our standard procedure ever since the pandemic took over the world.
But one company has taken an extra step by creating nose filters.
That’s right. Nose filters.
Launched pre-pandemic, Nosy is a wearable air filter that you put on your nose to protect yourself against airborne particles.
The slick and compact air filter and purifiers that fits on your nose features a patent-pending dual filtration system (Activated Carbon and HEPA filters) that allegedly breaks down toxic gases from fossil fuel emissions and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as well as pollen, dust, mold spores, smoke and more.
Unveiled in March 2020, the pandemic has unfortunately seriously impacted production of the nose filters so don’t expect to see people walking around with them until April 2021.
Though it may look funny, for Nosy founder Carina Cunha and her team, the filter is no joke. They have set out to create a product that not only protects the wearer against the harmful affects of pollution but to also be a more efficient and comfortable alternative to face masks of all kinds.
“Our belief is that wearing a Nosy should be as comfortable as possible so we created a solution that provides you with the most effective filtration and the best user experience,” the company shared in a presentation.
“Our malleable clip allows a custom fit for each nose!” they added. “The clip attaches to the outer shell using a magnetic attachment system, ensuring that Nosy will stay in place even when you are doing vigorous activity!”
The nose filters can las for up to 100 hours but the company recommends changing them at least once a week for hygienic purposes.
The filter is even usable with face masks so if you’re worried about the Covid-19 virus, you can think of the filter as an extra measure to keep yourself safe.
The company doesn’t just want to make the filters practical, they want to make them fashionable as they foresee that this new device could be an accessory of the future.
“Nosy is the fashion accessory of the future and you are one of the first people in the wolrd to have access to it,” the company’s Kickstarter description reads. “Who knows, many in 20 years your Nosy will be a collector’s item…”
The nose filter has turned many heads on the internet. Many have been making fun of how the filter looks with some even comparing it to the dog filter on social media.
We can definitely see the similarity but for now, we’ll remain skeptical about the nose filter.
Do you think that the nose filter is practical? Would you use one? Let us know your take on the new device!
