Thieves Take Less Than 10 Seconds To Steal Your Car And We Are Freaking Out!

That’s faster than a car stealing scene in a movie…

You know how characters from movies seem to effortlessly unlock any car they see by the roadside and drive it off in an emergency situation? Well, thieves are apparently doing that too… but faster!

Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Khairuldin said that thieves are using high tech gadgets to steal cars and it takes less than 10 seconds for them to unlock your car!

“Gone are the days when thieves unlocked the vehicle manually, hot-wired it to start and drove the car away.”

The thieves are using signal jammers and frequency duplicators to copy the radio channel and unlock keyless vehicles. They also use a GPS jammer to prevent the car from being tracked down later.

The cars that were stolen will then be dropped off to a middleman, who will send it to the mastermind in charge of deciding whether to strip or sell the car abroad.

Drop off locations of stolen cars are usually at supermarkets or residential areas to avoid suspicion and the people in the car theft syndicate would not know or meet each other in most cases. Their payment is also made through online transaction “to make it harder for the authorities to trace them, even if one of them is arrested.”

SAC Khairuldin advises people to start using pedal, brake and steering locks that will “make it longer and harder for them to take away the vehicle,”

So remember to always keep an eye out for your car and avoid parking at shady places! Share this with your friends and family!
