Good food is aplenty in Malaysia, but good AND cheap food is a little bit harder to find. However, not all hope is loss because there are some food vendors out there who choose to focus on making your stomach happy, as oppose to making money.

A 36-year-old hawker in Ipoh is an example of that. Shahrizan has been selling beansprout chicken rice for only RM1.30 per plate!

Yes, it’s ONLY RM1.30! Or RM1.60 if you choose to takeaway—an additional RM0.30 for packing cost.

RM1.30 is a stark contrast in terms of pricing seeing that a similar plate of beansprout chicken rice can easily cost up to RM10 these days!
Shahrizan told The New Straits Times that his main goal is to provide good, cheap food to those who can’t afford it even though he makes very little profit. He added, “I hope my initiative will at least allow more people to eat out.”

What a noble deed!
