No matter where we are, what time it is, who we’re eating with or how it’s prepared, our love for instant noodles will never fade.
It could be 3am and you’d find us over the stove, with a pan of water boiling and our packet of instant noodles ready to be made. Or we’d be at the mamak ordering an iconic “maggi goreng.”

As Malaysians, it’s safe to say that our relationship with instant noodles will live on forever and now, we can proudly proclaim that we have some of the best instant noodles in the world!
No, really. Malaysia’s very own instant noodles has made it to LA Times’ “The Official Instant Ramen Power Ranking” list and we’re at number two!!

A total of 31 instant noodles from all over the world were ranked based on two metrics: taste and “something I call Truth in Advertising, or T.I.A.” said LA Times writer, Lucas Kwan Peterson. “Does it taste like the thing it purports to taste like? Does the shrimp ramen taste like shrimp? Does the chicken taste like chicken?”

And according to the LA Times, Malaysia’s MyKuali Penang White Curry is the second best instant noodle in the world!

The food columnist calls MyKuali’s Penang White Curry mee “one of the best” with its “deep seafood flavour” that’s “slightly sweet and almost coconutty.”

But that’s not the only Malaysian-made instant noodles to make the list! In fact, a total of three Malaysian noodles are in the top 10!
While Indonesia’s Indomie sits at the top spot, Malaysia comes in at number two, number five and number seven!
Sitting proudly at number five is Malaysia’s Ibumie Curry Kapitan flavour that “brings a strong, distinct profile – cumin, coriander and chile – to create a very satisfying dry noodle.”

At number seven is another noodle from MyKuali, this time it’s the Penang Spicy Prawn flavour!
LA Times describes the noodles in the most delicious way saying that “every swallow of soup from the Penang Spicy Prawn is deep and briny and tastes like sucking the goopy marrow from the head of a shrimp.”
