Leaving for another country to study or work is often an emotional moment, typically marked by heartfelt goodbyes with family and friends. However, for a group of MARA (Majlis Amanah Rakyat) students departing for Seoul, South Korea, their send-off was anything but ordinary—it turned into a viral spectacle with a crowd of cheering Malaysians.
In a now-viral TikTok video shared by @pokya_124, thousands of Malaysians gathered at Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to send off the MARA students.
The 51-second clip shows a jubilant crowd of family, friends, and classmates lining both sides of the Departure Hall foyer. As the students descended the escalator, the onlookers erupted into cheers, waving and shouting words of encouragement.
Some of the students responded with smiles and waves, clearly moved by the enthusiasm, while others appeared slightly bewildered by the overwhelming send-off.
According to the TikTok post’s original poster, a total of 106 MARA students were traveling to Seoul to pursue their undergraduate degrees after completing foundation studies at UniKL. These students will spend the next four years in South Korea, a dream come true for many.
The video has since garnered over 260,000 views, with netizens amazed by the scale of the send-off. Many likened the scene to a "football match" or a "celebrity farewell."
Comments poured in congratulating the students on their achievement and wishing them the best for their studies abroad.
This heartwarming display of support is a testament to the pride and encouragement Malaysians feel for their young achievers embarking on an exciting new chapter.
