Timothée Chalamet just added another trophy to his collection—this time, with a side of gratitude for his biggest supporter.

At the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards, the A Complete Unknown star took home the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, beating out industry heavyweights like Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), Daniel Craig (Queer), and Colman Domingo (Sing Sing). This win not only marked Chalamet’s first SAG Award for acting, but it also made him the youngest actor ever to receive the honor.
And while the 29-year-old was clearly surprised by the victory, one thing was certain—he wasn’t taking the moment for granted.
Taking the stage, Chalamet delivered a speech that was both humble and heartfelt, kicking things off with an unexpected confession:
"I was not expecting this at all. Truly."
He then turned his attention to the special guest by his side—his mother, Nicole Flender, who he proudly recognized for her long-standing contributions to the industry.
"I’ll start by thanking my mother, who I’m here with tonight," Chalamet said. "She has been working at Actors’ Equity for 40 years, in the stage union."

Of course, Chalamet also acknowledged the years of dedication that went into his award-winning role as Bob Dylan.
"I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much this means to me," he admitted. "But the truth is, this was five and a half years of my life."
Aiming to cement his place among the greats, he passionately added:
"I know people don’t usually talk like this, but I wanna be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps."
And he wasn’t exaggerating about his commitment. From perfecting Dylan’s mannerisms and physicality to undergoing a 20-pound weight transformation, Chalamet left no stone unturned in his quest to embody the legendary musician.

"I did all the work," he shared in a recent interview. "Physicality, behavior-wise… Believe it or not, I was thinner than the guy."
Chalamet’s SAG Award triumph was a full-circle moment for the actor, who had previously been nominated in 2018 for Call Me By Your Name but left empty-handed. The loss, along with others in recent years, even became the subject of a joke during his recent Saturday Night Live hosting gig.
"It’s been an enormous honor going to these award shows," he quipped on SNL. "It’s such a great experience, but I just keep losing. And each time, it gets harder to pretend it doesn’t sting."
Well, the losing streak is officially over. And with his mom by his side to witness it, Chalamet’s first SAG win was one for the books.
