Tightened quarantine rules and lockdowns are being imposed worldwide to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and some tourists recently got punishment for flouting the lockdown India!
Ten foreigners were recently caught for disobeying the lockdown in India and were all punished by being forced to wrote “I am so sorry” 500 times!
Local police officers said that each of the tourists that came from Israel, Mexico, Australia and Austria, were made to write “I did not follow the rules of lockdown so I am so sorry" on a piece of paper for 500 times.
The foreigners were caught taking a walk in northern India’s Rishikesh, a place that was made famous to the world after the Beatles sought spirituality at the ashram back in 1968.
India imposed their nationwide lockdown near the end of March and limited movement to only allow people to leave their homes for essential services.
Over 700 foreigners were reportedly flouting the lockdown rules in the area and the police have been giving them unusual punishments to teach them a lesson.
The police issued orders for foreigners staying in hotels to only leave if they are accompanied by local helpers or legal action will be taken against establishments that don’t follow the order.
Policemen in India was previously spotted wearing COVID-19 themed helmets to encourage people to stay home and warn the people in cars and motorcycles to wear protective personal equipment and practice social distancing.
Some of the offenders that disobeyed the lockdown in India were also spotted wearing masks depicting the virus and wearing cards that reads “Don’t come out, don’t go near to corona” as their punishment.
Other offenders were reportedly made to do squats and leapfrogs in some parts of the country.
