The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) is looking to implement a tram system in Kajang, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Bangi.
If you’ve been to London or Melbourne, you would have noticed that this vehicle resembles a train running on rails.
The Star reported that a 53km tram network is being proposed by SPAD, and it’ll be linked to the MRT 1 Line in Kajang and the upcoming MRT 2 and High-Speed Rail (HSR) lines.
According to chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Shah:
“We have submitted this to the Government and it has given us approval to initiate a request for proposal (RFP) exercise. We’ve not decided when the RFP will be ready, but it will be within the next week three to six months.”
It’s definitely a move in an environment-friendly and cost-efficient direction!
