While Malaysian athletes are making us proud at the 2019 SEA Games, one student from UiTM just scored the highest mark in accounting worldwide!

The 18-year-old student, Hakeem Mohammad Akmal scored the highest marks in the Recording Financial Transactions (FA1) paper, making him number one in the world for the July - December 2019 semester!

Hakeem was awarded the highest title by The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and has been a Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) programme student at UiTM since July 2019.

He said, “the lecturer teaching the subject was very helpful during and after class. I believe that the interaction between students and lecturers is very important because it makes the learning process more effective.”

18yo msian student became #1 in accounting worldwide

Some of you might be thinking all he does is nothing but studying, but Hakeem revealed that he goes out for movies and exercises just like everyone else, but knows his limits and balance out his activities and studies.

Hakeem was actually a science stream student back in high school, but decided to take up accounting because he wanted to try something new and more challenging.

He plans to continue his studies in ACCA after his CAT programme and pursue a future in accounting, looking at how the industry has more job opportunities in Malaysia.

Congratulations Hakeem, keep making Malaysia proud and we hope you become a successful accountant in the future!
