Every new year, we set ourselves new resolutions and a popular resolution is to start eating healthy and exercising.

One woman however has decided to give up her diet and it’s all because of a mouse.

Christine Egerton had recently purchased a packet of “ready to eat” salad from a popular supermarket in the UK and was about to make herself a meal when she discovered a dead mouse in the packet.

The woman from Isle of Wight said that she and her family were “physically sick” after the discovering the body of the dead mouse.

The rancid smell from the mouse was so strong that Christine was forced to open all the windows in her flat to air out her house.

“The flat stinks,” she said. “We have cleaned everywhere [and] opened the windows.”

Christine added that the discovery has made her give up on her diet and shared that she’d be going back to eating French fries in hopes of avoiding similar scares in the future.

“If this isn’t a good advert to grow your own veg, I don’t know what is,” Christine noted. “Will NEVER be getting this EVER again. It blooming reeked, safe to say we are not eating tonight. All food thrown away, we all puked up.”

After complaining to the supermarket about the unfortunate incident, Christine was offered a “gesture of goodwill.”

“We are in touch with the customer and are investigating the issue,” a spokesman from the supermarket said. “We have apologised for her experience and offered a gesture of goodwill.”

We’d definitely give up our diet too if we found something as gross as this in our salads! We know we’ll definitely be more careful when buying salads too!

Have you ever found a dead animal or insect in your food before? Let us know!
