Anime and manga lovers would have never imagined that studying their favourite hobby would get them an actual degree but it’s no longer just a dream!
The Kaishi Professional University in Niigata Prefecture in Japan has confirmed that it will be offering its very own anime and manga degree.
A press release from the university announced that the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has officially approved its anime and manga department that will be launched in April 2021!
Students will be able to learn the theory and practicality needed to create anime and manga from leading anime and manga creators for more than 600 hours.
This includes professional animators, animation directors, manga artists, character designers, illustrators, and game creators, as well as animation and manga researchers.
It definitely sounds like an anime and manga lover’s dream come true, but the department will only have a capacity of 80 students!
The university will start accepting applications from 1 December 2020 onwards and will be holding its first entrance exam on 19 December 2020!
Anime and manga enthusiasts who are inspired to become creators themselves are excited after the announcement and many are sharing it with their friends that are interested!
