Some accidents happen due to the most unexpected reasons, like a cockroach in the car. But having a water bottle in your car might also cause deadly road accidents!
PDRM recently posted on Facebook urging the public to avoid having water bottles in your car and explained how water bottles, no matter how small, might lead to cars losing control and totalling, if it ever rolls under the car’s accelerator or brake pedal!
“It won’t matter how hard you press on the pedal if it happens because you’ll need to apply a lot of pressure on the pedal to get it to work with a blockage.”
And even if you do manage to get enough pressure to make the pedal work, the delayed reaction could cause a collision or worse.
The post also said that not all cars are equipped with a cup/bottle holder and most people tend to use them to put coins, cards or other things and this carelessness is what leads to fatal car accidents.
Netizens are reminding their friends and family to clean their cars and ensure there's nothing left under the car seats too!
A fatal car accident involving a mother and her child apparently happened recently after the child’s water bottle got stuck under the brake pedal, said the post.
It’s good to stay hydrated and bring your own bottle but make sure you place them in a water bottle holder or a secure spot!
Share this with your friend and family to remind them not to have water bottles in their cars and ensure that it’s clean all the time!
