Every Chinese New Year in the past decade has been made more and more interesting with hilarious and over-the-top ads by Watsons. This year was no exception.

Watsons has brought back Summer Grace, an iconic pop duo from the 90’s for their latest CNY commercial to play Liu Lian (Durian) Sisters. Besides that, you’ll also recognise familiar faces such as Amber Chia, JinnyBoy, SoImJenn, Ayda Jebat and more.

The story goes like this… Liu Jie and Lian Jie had a falling out one night, which pretty much led to the end of the Liu Lian Sisters!

Fast forward to 2021, Liu Jie’s kids were doing some spring cleaning in the store room when they found the Liu Lian Sisters’ old CD (remember this ancient music-playing thing?!). Conspiring to get their mum and aunt back together, they reached out to Lian Jie’s daughter and organised an online concert.

Though they were fighting in a sing-off at first, the Sisters soon realised their mistakes, apologised and got back together. The result of the reunion is a super catchy Watsons CNY song!
