Tributes! It’s time to return to the Hunger Games!
We first heard news about an upcoming prequel novel to The Hunger Games a couple of months ago and now, we finally know what is going to be called!

Author, Suzanne Collins is ready to take fans back to the world of The Hunger Games in a new prequel novel that’s set long before Katniss Everdeen makes her mark as the arrow-slinging hero of Panem.
Scholastic recently revealed the title and cover art for the upcoming prequel and we’re getting excited just from its name!
Introducing, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes!
A huge banner was unveiled for fans at the New York Comic Con that debuted the title of the upcoming novel that was previously only known as the “Untitled Panem Novel.”
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will take place 64 years before Katniss first volunteers as tribute to take her sister’s place in the Hunger Games. In fact, the prequel will begin on the day tributes were chosen for the 10th Hunger Games, Scholastic notes.

“With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival,” the author said in a statement. “The reconstruction period ten years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days – as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet – provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.”
The prequel has been scheduled for publishing on 19th May 2020 in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It shouldn’t take too long to reach us after that!
Lionsgate – who produced The Hunger Games movies; has also been reported to be developing a movie based on the upcoming prequel.
Fans of course are excited and are eagerly anticipating the release of the prequel!
