Classes at Nevermore Academy are officially back in session, and this time, Wednesday Addams is in for an even darker adventure.

Netflix released a first glimpse of Wednesday Season 2 in a sizzle reel highlighting its upcoming 2025 lineup. The teaser offered a brief but chilling look at the Jenna Ortega-led series, hinting at an intensified horror element in the next chapter.

The promo opens with a woman attempting to stream Stranger Things during a work meeting, only to be transported through various Netflix worlds, encountering Squid Game guards and the Black Mirror logo. Eventually, she transforms—adopting Wednesday Addams’ signature braids and Nevermore Academy uniform—before Ortega herself appears on screen.

The clip then reveals the ominous gates of Willowhill Psychiatric Hospital, where Tyler Galpin’s (Hunter Doohan) mother was once institutionalized due to her transformation into a Hyde—a monstrous species previously banned from Nevermore Academy. A tense moment follows, showing Wednesday staring down Tyler as he sits chained to a wall.

Originally debuting in November 2022, Wednesday, produced by Tim Burton, became an instant Netflix sensation. The show follows Ortega’s portrayal of the gothic heroine as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy while unraveling supernatural mysteries.

Returning for Season 2 are cast members Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Moosa Mostafa, Victor Dorobantu, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo. However, Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, and Naomi J. Ogawa are reportedly not reprising their roles, per Deadline.

Production for the second season recently wrapped, with a premiere expected later this year. Speaking about what’s to come, Ortega teased a shift toward a more horror-driven atmosphere.

"I think the feel that we’re going for is a little bit more horror-inspired," she shared with Vanity Fair in August 2024. "Not to say that suddenly we’re the goriest show of all time. I mean, there’s six-year-olds watching. We’re doing this thing now where Wednesday just kind of appears. She is a little bit of a jump scare herself."

Until then, fans can catch up on Season 1, currently streaming in full on Netflix.
