As many of us will know, it’s very easy to get mistaken between two products that have similar packages.

Unfortunately for one woman, that mistake almost cost her her vision when she mistook glue for eye drops!

Yacedrah Williams went to sleep one night with her contact lenses still in and woke up at 1am to take them off as her eyes were dry.

The Michigan woman reached inside her purse for her eye drops but unfortunately, she picked up a similarly sized white bottle of nail glue that she typically uses to repair broken fingernails, instead.

Luckily, Yacedrah was not alone and had her husband with her when she realised the mistake.

“I was like, ‘oh my goodness,’ and it dropped in my eye and I tried to wipe it away and it sealed my eye shut,” she said.

“I just started throwing cold water and I was trying to pull my eyes apart, but I couldn’t. And I was just screaming for him to call 911.”

According to reports, Yacedrah was immediately rushed to an area hospital where doctors were able to open her eye and remove her contact lenses.

Doctors told the woman that her contact lenses had most likely saved her vision from the mistake.

“They said that contacts saved my vision,” Yacedrah shared. “They kept saying, ‘you’ll probably lose your lashes,’ which I did because they had to pull on it and flip the top of my lid.”

This is not the first time someone has mistaken glue for eyedrops, Dr. George Williams of Beaumont Health shared.

He advised that should you ever get anything in your eye, you should immediately try and flush it out by using a nearby faucet or bottle of water.

Though it may make a mess, “you may save your vision,” he said.

Previously in 2015, Katie Gaydos from Florida, USA, accidentally glued her eye shut after a friend mistakenly hander her fingernail glue instead of eye drops.

The incident occurred after a leaf blower caused a piece of debris to land in her eye.

“It’s stuck to my eyelids and my eyeball and it really hurts,” Katie said at the time.

Ouch! This is definitely a mistake we wouldn’t want to happen to us!

Luckily Yacedrah didn’t lose her vision in this accident!

Always be sure to take that extra second to make sure you’re using the right product, even if it’s something other than eye drops or glue!
