At the end of quarantine, many will be out to celebrate being outside, but a celebration for the end of lockdown ended tragically for a woman in Turkey.
Turkey recently ended their coronavirus lockdown and a 31-year-old woman from Kazakhstan decided to celebrate it with her friend on a hike and died after posing for a photo.
The woman, Olesia Suspitsina and her friend Larysa Kamalova crossed a security fence at Duden Park in Antalya, Turkey and she posed in front of some waterfalls before slipping on the grass and plummeting 35 meters (115 feet) down the slope.
"We came to the park in the evening," the friend explained. "Then we were talking to a friend with a video. When Olesia was talking on video, she asked me to take a picture of herself."
She was pronounced dead after the police arrived at the scene where her body was found and pulled from the water.
Her death was ruled an accident by the authorities after it was transported to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute’s morgue.
Olesia worked in the tourism industry for five years before her tragic death and was described as “smart and cheerful” by a grieving relative.
Her friend has been charged with negligence in connection to the accident that happened and Olesia’s body was transported back from Turkey to Kazakhstan to be buried in her native city of Kostanay.
Always stay cautious and don’t risk your life for a photo or a celebration can turn into a tragedy in a matter of seconds.
Rest in peace.
