Losing your beloved pet is definitely one of the most heartbreaking and nerve-wrecking things for every pet owner. But this woman never gave up hope on her dog, Katie.
Carole lost her dog in July during a trip and she believed that her dog Katie, escaped the hotel room because she was scared by the thunder.
She and her husband did everything they could to find Katie including posting on social media, putting up over 500 flyers, asking and knocking on doors. Her husband even bought game cameras and night-vision goggles, but to no avail.
“It was devastating. I got sick to my stomach,” said Carole who decided to quit her job to look for Katie. “I never gave up. I never lost hope.”
Then she got a call from a guy in another state saying there’s a dog matching Katie’s description in his yard but by the time they rushed there it was already gone.
She decided to hand out a few more fliers in the neighborhood and it wasn’t until later that day that a woman Carole asked pointed at a dark corner under a tree saying, “is that your dog?”
“I turned and it’s Katie. I just bear-hugged her, I wasn’t going to let her go. Tears were flying, we were screaming, everybody is high-fiving, hugging each other.”
“People were stopping in their vehicles, getting out and hugging us. I think the whole neighborhood knew that we found her.”
Katie lost more than 5kg and was severely dehydrated and starving but is expected to make a full recovery!
The doctor even asked Carole, “is this the famous Katie?” and she was so touched that she welled up with tears hearing it.
Netizens were touched by her determination to find her dog and hopes that her employers will hire her back!
We are happy that Carole and Katie are reunited! If you ever lost your pet *touch wood* remember to never give up!
