You might have been wrongly charged for something before but it might never be as long and as how this woman paid for!
A post on Facebook went viral after a Malaysian woman revealed that she has been stressing over her electrical bills over the years because of how expensive they were despite her effort to minimize the usage and how she finally solved the mystery.
The woman named Eve Lim on Facebook said that she has always find it weird how her electrical bill every month amounted to at least RM700 to RM800 and she called the authorities multiple times to check on the issue, even approaching a minister for help.
She tried everything from turning her fridge off to staying over at her friend’s house to minimise her electrical bill and even spent a huge sum of money over the years replacing the parts thought to be responsible for the assumed electrical leakage, but to no avail.
“I expected a result every time but it never works. But I didn’t want my electricity to get cut off, so I continued to pay the bills and look for a solution at the same time,” she said.
But her patience ran thin after she received a RM1500 bill in July this year and decided to get the electrician to check if it was the fridge causing the problem again but they asked her try asking TNB to completely cut the power off instead to see if the meters are still running.
And that’s when she found out.
After having her main switch cut off, she realised that her lights and fans are still on and the TNB staff laughed. The confused Eve asked him what’s the matter and he asked her to wait for someone to come out.
And a few minutes later the maid from her neghbour’s house came out and asked, “why is there no electricity?”
Turns out her electricity meter was numbered for the wrong house by her home developer and she’s been paying for her neighbour’s bills for five long years!
"And to think that I had to avoid using the water heater some days just to save the electrical bill…”, she wrote.
She said that she finally don’t have to stress out about it anymore and that TNB will be refunding her up to RM15,000 of bills she unknowingly paid for her neighbour and clarified that the neighbour is not stealing her electricity!
Talk about a case of bad luck!
We’re glad she finally solved the issue that has been stressing her out all these years and hope she can be compensated for all the wrongfully paid bills.
