Malaysians returning from abroad have been instructed to self-quarantine at home but one woman went viral after she was spotted eating at a restaurant in Perak despite being under quarantine… and now she has been confirmed to be COVID-19 positive!
The woman wearing the pink wristband that’s meant for Malaysians returning from abroad has been identified as a 72-year-old woman and she’s currently being treated at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh after being tested positive for COVID-19.
A source revealed that both the woman and her son are still undergoing treatment together in the hospital because they were tested positive.
The woman reportedly arrived in Malaysia on July 4 and underwent the Home Surveillance Order (HSO) after initially testing negative, but a second swab confirmed that she was infected with the virus.
After returning to Malaysia for only 13 days, she was reportedly admitted to the hospital.
“Based on details provided by the health authorities, the virus volume is low, and therefore, the risk of infection is low too,” the source said.
The photo of the woman taken at the restaurant in Bandar Meru Raya previously sparked outrage on the internet, with many others sharing photos of other Malaysians wearing the “quarantine wristband” and flouting the rules while spotted outside.
Let’s all be responsible in preventing a second wave of COVID-19 in Malaysia and make sure you adhere to the rules issued by the health ministry and government!
