Many would think that animal lovers would appear to be more attractive but according to a recent study, if you’re someone that loves cats, we’ve got bad news for you.

A study at the Colorado State University shows that women are less likely to be attracted to men that love cats!

A total of 708 women aged between 18 and 24 were shown photos of men with and without cats and found that women are less likely to swipe right to men posing with their cats.

"Men holding cats were viewed as less masculine; more neurotic, agreeable, and open; and less dateable," the study wrote.

One of the guy that was pictured holding a cat had his likeliness for the women to date him dropped from 38% to 33% compared to a picture of him pictured without the feline.

Having a cat in the picture also increased the likeliness of women to never consider dating him rising from 9% to 14%, showing that women are less likely to consider him as a potential partner when pictured with a cat.

"Women prefer men with 'good genes,' often defined as more masculine traits," the research says. "Clearly, the presence of a cat diminishes that perception."

But at the end of the day, attractiveness does not equate to love, because if they prefer you without your furry companion, maybe they are not worth it too…
