If you happen to be a guy with facial hair, you’re in luck because a study says that women
According to the study conducted by researchers at the University of Queensland and the University of Stirling, bearded men were found to be more attractive than clean-shaven men.
The study was conducted with 919 women aged between 18 to 70 and they were asked to rate three male faces with five levels of “masculinity” for both potential short and long-term relationships.
But if you are a man that is clean-shaven or can’t grow out a beard, not all hope is lost just yet.
There are women in the study who find bearded men less attractive and are discouraged by facial hair due to their potential risk of carrying ticks, bugs and lice.
“We found women’s disgust towards ectoparasites – such as fleas that live on the skin – negatively affects preferences for men with beards,” senior author Dr Barnaby Dixson said.
Another study conducted by researchers from the University of New South Wales also concluded that beards are more attractive when less people have them.
“The frequency dependant effects on how attractive men and women found beards could indicate the influence of novelty in driving changes in facial hair fashion.”
So bearded looks might be less attractive if too many people have them too!
