Students are adapting to many changes after the COVID-19 outbreak in Malaysia this year and students have to adapt to another change which is a shortened year-end holiday!
The Education Minister (MOE) just announced that the annual year end school holiday will be cut short to two weeks in 2020.
The aim of the amended year-end school holiday is to help schools plan their academic term better after it’s been affected by the pandemic.
The mid-semester school holidays will also be amended from nine days to five days and will start from August 20 to 28 while the year-end school holiday will be from December 18 to 31.
The school holiday will also depend on the state with Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu’s holiday reduced from 42 days to 14 days and school holidays for Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya reduced from 41 days to 13 days.
With the changes implemented, the Education Minister said that there will only be a total of 168 days of being physically in school in 2020.
SPM, SVM, STPM and STAM students will be returning to school starting tomorrow with other students will be allowed to resume their classes in school in phases soon.
