If you’ve been thinking Malaysian youngsters are wasteful and love to hang out on the weekends, you might want to reconsider your opinion!

Don’t get mad at us yet. We have proof!

In a recent survey conducted by cilisos.my, about 2,660 (69.1 per cent) Malaysian millennials acknowledged that they choose to stay at home on the weekends rather than head out.

Well, that’s over half of our youths who are happy being at home to watch their favourite dramas!

Find out what else our Malaysian youngsters love to do over the weekend:

#1 Majority of Malaysian youngsters eat their meals at home!

Believe it or not, about 40.1 per cent of the respondents said they prefer home-cooked meals to local coffee shops or hipster cafes. This must be due to the all the short-video recipes that flood social media!

#2 Friends over Family!

Don’t be shocked that the survey also revealed, about 65.6 per cent of Malaysian youngsters don’t spend time enough time with their families or partners. They prefer their friends to family members or partners.

#3 Malaysians spend 20% more on a weekend meal

This makes a lot of sense. On weekdays, working youngsters might be busy and don’t have enough time for proper meals. To strike a balance and to reward themselves, they might indulge on expensive meals over the weekend!

#4 Majority of Malaysian youths are awake by 10 am!

Contrary to the myth that Malaysians wake up late on the weekends, most of them are actually already up by 10 am. It seems like people with fewer commitments (hello, single people!) tend to wake up whenever they want, compared to those who are married.

#5 Gossiping about others is the second most popular activity during weekend gatherings.

Besides talking about current events (58 per cent), gossiping about other people (50.6 per cent) stays as the second most popular activity among youths!
