Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson proved their friendship is still going strong after all these years.

Tomlinson, 33, attended Malik’s Stairway to the Sky Tour stop at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Jan. 29, where the Pillowtalk singer gave his former One Direction bandmate a heartfelt shoutout from the stage.
"Tonight is kind of special. An old friend of mine is here supporting me tonight," Malik, 32, told the crowd, per social media footage. Without revealing his exact location, he added, "He’s sitting somewhere here… but Louis is here tonight."

Fans quickly spotted Tomlinson in the balcony, touching his chest in acknowledgment of Malik’s words. Near the end of the concert, Malik dedicated two songs—What I Am and Alienated—to Tomlinson. According to fan reports, the two were seen leaving the venue together after the show.
This public reunion follows the former bandmates’ appearance together at fellow One Direction member Liam Payne’s funeral in November 2024. Payne tragically passed away at age 31 on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Following Payne’s passing, Malik postponed several dates of his tour, telling fans on Instagram, “Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I've made the decision to postpone the US leg of the Stairway to the Sky Tour.”
Malik and his former bandmates, including Harry Styles and Niall Horan, released a rare joint statement mourning Payne’s death:
"We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam."
Malik continues to honor Payne during his tour, including a special tribute each night.
